Robins are open fronted nesters for which this is specifically designed. Robins like to hide away lowdown in a hedge, ivy and bushes below a meter, so this nest needs to be tucked in and can be secured using wire. You can put it up any time of the year becouse they and other small birds will use it to roost in out of the breeding season.
If you are concerned about cats and dogs interfering with it make a half ball of large hole chicken wire and install it infront of the nester, and the birds can fly through the chicken wire.
This nester is made from rattan with a metal frame.
