This Antique Pewter Teapot Bird Nest Box or Feeder is Georgian, made by Civic, and is mounted on oak and sanded to show off the grain, we have not stained or varnished the timber as we believe that the timber will look better as it weathers. However, if you wish to add a coat of varnish you can but the smell may put the birds off for a while.
This pewter teapot is an ideal shape for a bird feeder but could also be used as a planter, if using as a planter you would leave the spout open for drainage. As a feeder before putting up block the spout to prevent the seed from running out, to do this I normally put gaffer tape over the inside opening of the spout.
We reurch the pots history and write the results on the back, and then mount a coin relevant to the age of the kettle on the back timber and this one has a early George V penny.
As well as making an excellent bird feeder or planter it will make a unique stunning feature / talking point for your garden.
